Full of early misconceptions it looked as if the “Ethanol Sector” could make a nice push today after Archer Daniels-Midland Co. (ADM) announced that its fourth-quarter profit more than doubled. Speculation from this news resulted in an early rise of most ethanol stocks. Xethanol (XNL), unless a glitch in the system, jumped 32.3% to $10 in early trading but corrected to $7.40 in the afternoon. There was no news published to support this rise.
